6 questions with Chicks Who Click: Jenny Meade

1) Give us background on who you are, and what you do to work and play!
I have a degree in English from Texas Christian University. I spent several years in advertising/broadcast media, then jumped into recruiting for advertising and marketing talent for a small search firm in Kansas City.  Right now I’m kind of on a career sabbatical, working at my church and focusing on my kids – or trying to, anyway.  But I try and keep a toe in marketing and what’s new with social media, because I find it so fascinating, personally and professionally. I have always been interested in how people interact – whether with each other, with brands, or with media. And now people do all three at once, which I love.

2) What are your guilty pleasure social media sites?

I’m a twitteraholic. I love posting in 140 characters or less. Being a writer, I do like to unnecessarily pontificate. Twitter forces you to downsize your thoughts, and choose words carefully. It’s a great challenge.

3) What company (besides your own) do you think is absolutely rocking the social media space?
I think Facebook is brilliant. It grows so exponentially, it’s mind-blowing.  And then they make a major shift in the way it looks and works, causing people to freak out and start joining groups about how much they hate the change, but they don’t leave. It’s crazy.  People continue to participate even when they’re mad. You can’t buy that kind of brand loyalty, literally.  And that, of course, is changing media as we know it, every single day.

4) What is one website or social network you don’t think most people don’t know about but should?
I highly doubt there’s too much that I know that other people don’t, but I really like http://workitmom.com. It’s a site dedicated to working moms, those of us straddling the line of career and family management (or again, trying to.) There are a lot of really smart women contributing there, offering ideas and support.

5) What do you hope to get out of the Kansas City Chicks Who Click?
I have met some really neat women bloggers who live in and around in Kansas City, whom I don’t get to see very often. So it’s fun to get together.  And I’ve heard so much about the Chicks behind Chicks Who Click, I can’t wait to meet them, and listen to them, and absorb as much as I can.

6) Where can other Chicks find you online?
